It also has a traditional waste plastic waste upcycling factory located at Nkwere Inyi in Inyi, Oji-River Local Government Area, Enugu State, Nigeria a few kilometers away from our major waste disposal site in Awka.

ASTRAE Limited was founded in 3rd of August 2021 and is based in Anambra State, Nigeria. ASTRAE Limited has made a fortune taking care of what the rest of the world prefers not to think about. ASTRAE is the undisputed one of the first waste management company in Awka in nearly major facets of waste conversion, including upcycling of waste plastic, retailing of other solid waste material; and daily garbage removal, waste reduction, and recycling. Astrae has expanded its operations both technically and geographically to other nearby communities in our area of operation, acquiring a host of accessories, pollution control equipment, and upcycling service for plastic waste, while signing contracts with recyclers from Okupuno, Agu Awka. With time Astrae will become the largest garbage collector in West Africa.

Sensitivity to the problems of waste disposal is a comparatively recent development in Anambra state as the political leader and state governmental bodies are trying their best in getting it right.

It was an exceedingly good time to join the waste management industry. The nation's production of garbage is growing in a much faster rate even than its population, and companies into waste management are getting high demands with lower supply due to level of waste generated.

In its first year of operation, Astrae Company in Anambra totaled a modest N5million in revenue, but its founders recognized that the waste industry had a nearly unlimited future. To create a nationwide organization, Chibuike and John took Astrae public in 2021 with an initial offering of 20% of the company’s equity still currently in sales. Astrae founders used the proceeds of that stock selling to launch one of the most spectacular success stories in the business by kicking off a door point waste collection service. From August 2021 to March 2022, Astrae revenue grew at a rate of 57% per month.

Most of this phenomenal growth was achieved by means of partnership – Astrae is in partnership with 8 different recyclers who are into textile, glass, organic, and paper waste recycling--but some of the growth reflected increasing concern for the long-term health and appearance of the planet.

We also have established social waste management clubs as part of our article 11 in our company’s deed to make creating an awareness and waste management culture even easier. A result of these shifts in public awareness was a new emphasis on the professional, safe, and environmentally responsible handling of all forms of waste, which was no longer perceived simply as whatever was unwanted.

A company such as Astrae offered the appearance of professional service and provided fiscally troubled communities with garbage collection at up to 50% less than what it cost them to dispose trash on their own with other waste collection companies.

Also of significance at this time was Astrae decision to enter the newly upcycling of plastic waste into useable building materials. Astrae recognized the extent of the problem--and the profits likely to be generated by its solution--and cautiously purchased a few technologies to enable proper waste management.

Upcycling of plastic waste into useable building material a relatively minor part of Astrae business, until there became a strong need to tackle the problem of waste since the recycling alternative didn’t really prove effective due to the cost, health challenge and regulations tide to plastic waste recycling which is not economical as compared to the use of raw materials. The act was due to current increase in population and possible solution to reduce the housing deficit by solving the problem of high increase in the cost of building materials in Nigeria which has been seen to take a new turn in the next 10years.
